Have you been wondering how to start an online beauty business? Are you looking for business ideas for beauty lovers specifically?
As a beautypreneur, other than providing services there are many ways to build multiple income streams focused on your passion and love for beauty, and in ways you probably didn’t think of.
If you ever wanted to start an online beauty business, here’s a list of beauty businesses that beauty lovers can start for under $100, make as much as $1,000 to $10,000 monthly, and work from home doing.
01. Start a Beauty Blog
Blogging is an online business almost everyone, especially beauty lovers should consider and pursue! Beauty blogging in 2021 is one of the most lucrative and low-cost ways to enter the beauty industry and is one of the most popular types of blogs online.
You can make a full-time income from sharing product reviews, beauty advice, and other helpful tips.
You work for yourself, create your own schedule, and have control over how little or how much you make.
Some easy ways to make money from a beauty blog are with affiliate links and receive a commission each time someone makes a purchase through your link, ads that makes money from the traffic that clicks on them, or working with brands who pay you to write reviews on their products.
I would say it’s the number one online business to start to add extra income to your life as long as you treat it like a business you want to make money from.
02. Start an Amazon Niche Site
Very much like using amazon affiliate links in a blog post and making commissions off of every purchase made through your link, an amazon niche site is a website used to promote a particular niche of products from amazon. Many people are super successful and make thousands of dollars from niche sites and it can be set up in just a couple of weeks.
Specifically for a beauty amazon niche site, you would pick a really specific niche of products and build content on your website like reviews, tutorials, and comparisons focused on those products.
An amazon niche site like oomphed focuses on the best of the best hair dryer reviews for all types of hair. Sites like these are popular because they are filled with posts that give people an idea of what a product is like before they buy, it makes them really confident in making a purchase.
Imagine how much extra income you could bring in from just one or two of these sites? The key to a successful amazon niche site being writing excellent, informative reviews and focusing on higher-priced items for higher commissions.
03. Start an Amazon Affiliate Pinterest
Similarly to having an amazon niche site, an amazon affiliate Pinterest is another one of my favorite ways to make an extra $400-$500 a month. Pinterest is a pool of shoppers clicking links and saving pins every day so you can definitely use this to your advantage.
Start by creating a Pinterest business profile then start pinning products and building your Pinterest around your niche.
For example, if you wanted to sell strictly beauty products, create boards specifically related to them and also create boards for non-affiliate pins. Apply to be an amazon affiliate if you haven’t already, and when you’re approved simply pin your amazon products to their related boards.
As long as you follow Pinterest’s and amazon’s rules when linking affiliate products, like stating that it is an affiliate link in the description, this will be profitable!
A key tip is to only pin at most two of your affiliate products a day, and it’s a great idea to use Tailwind to schedule and automatically pin other related products to your non-affiliate boards. This will greatly increase engagement and traffic to your pins for affiliate sales.
04. Start a Beauty Dropshipping Store
A dropshipping store is a very profitable way to run an eCommerce store without having any physical inventory and it’s one of the easiest online businesses to start for under $100. I love how with this business there’s little risk involved but so much potential, at the least this business can net you an extra $500 a month!
It’s also easy to start. You simply create a Shopify store, source products from drop shipping vendors, and list and sell them for profit on your store. Shopify is the best platform for this because of its ease of use and flexibility, especially for new online store owners. In the Shopify app store, you can find apps like Oberlo that easily import products directly from a supplier to your store making the process super beginner-friendly.
You only purchase the products after you make a sale so the upfront costs are low but you do have to do some work to get sales. You still have to drive traffic to your store, build a brand around your products, and use social media to your advantage.

05. Become a Beauty Copywriter
Beauty copywriting is a part of every beauty business so the need for it is never-ending. In the likes of beauty blogging, if you like to write and have a knack for marketing, beauty copywriting is for you. Beauty copywriters write product descriptions, create product ads and campaigns for beauty companies, and can make up to $2,000 a month with just a few clients.
Almost everything you read from a beauty company’s newsletters to your favorite product description is beauty copy. Even makeup artists and hairstylists and many other beauty professionals hire beauty copywriters, reasons why they’re so essential.
You can become a freelance beauty copywriter by perfecting your writing skill, drafting samples for your ideal client, and reaching out to beauty businesses to pitch working with them. This might take some time until you get a client but depending on what writing services you provide and how much you charge, you could only need 3-4 clients to make a nice extra income every month.
Once you get your first clients you’ll quickly realize beauty copywriting is a very lucrative part of the beauty industry to be in!
06. Direct Sell Makeup
Have you ever considered selling makeup from home? Selling makeup from home today is easy and very profitable. Makeup and cosmetics are essential to the beauty industry, half a billion dollars made in the beauty industry just from cosmetics alone!
If you love makeup and don’t want to go the expensive private label route then direct selling is a great alternative for that.
Becoming a consultant for makeup companies that have done all the hard work and built a name around their product saves you time and money. This makes it easy for you to focus on building a loyal customer base, selling the companies products, and receiving lucrative commissions every month.
The start-up costs are typically around $50-$100 so it is very affordable to start and most of the programs provide you with a starter kit that comes with marketing tools, sales training, and free or discounted products. A dream job really!
07. Start a YouTube Channel
If you have a beauty skill or service you want to promote or just like talking about products you love, starting a YouTube channel and becoming a beauty influencer could be perfect for you.
YouTube is lucrative in the sense that you get paid for views, brands reach out to you and pay you to promote their products and you get exposure to your own brand. The start-up costs for becoming a beauty guru or influencer are essential $0, you can start recording, editing, and uploading from your cell phone.
No doubt YouTube will continue to grow exponentially over the years, now’s a great time to start this beauty career!
